Kokosing
Gap Trial:
An old railroad track re-made into a 15 mile bike trail, extending
from Mount Vernon to Danville. Very scenic. Trail meanders
through Gambier (Kenyon College) and Millwood. Trail starts
approx. 1 mile from Hotel.
Mohican
Park:
30 Minutes driving time from Mount Vernon, Mohican Park has
everything for the nature enthusiasts, from extensive hiking
trails, to boating and fishing, camping and canoeing.
Longaberger
Basket Company:
Located near Zanesville, Ohio, it is home of the famous basket
company. Tours of the factory are offered, and the town has
many quaint shops and restaurants to idle away a day.
Columbus:
Ohio's State Capital with extensive, world-class shopping,
restaurants and other interesting fare, such as museums, a
wonderful zoo, and fascinating science center.
Millersburg:
Approximately 1 1/2 hours from Mount Vernon, Millersburg is
worth a visit. It's the the home of the largest Amish community
in the world. It is very scenic area, filled with well-kept
farms that are a reflection of the way the Amish live, and
the area is filled with interesting shops, reflecting Amish
culture.
Golf:
For those enjoying a round of golf, Mount Vernon is blessed
with a number of outstanding golf courses. It's easy to fill
a whole weekend playing on the various courses available.
